North Oakland Backyard

Kevi’s magical backyard. The chickens were too shy to be pictured this time.

I have somewhere surely lived a life of joy with you

To a Stranger by Walt Whitman

Passing stranger! you do not know how longingly I look upon you,
You must be he I was seeking, or she I was seeking, (it comes to me
as of a dream,)
I have somewhere surely lived a life of joy with you,
All is recall’d as we flit by each other, fluid, affectionate,
chaste, matured,
You grew up with me, were a boy with me or a girl with me,
I ate with you and slept with you, your body has become not yours
only nor left my body mine only,
You give me the pleasure of your eyes, face, flesh, as we pass, you
take of my beard, breast, hands, in return,
I am not to speak to you, I am to think of you when I sit alone or
wake at night alone,
I am to wait, I do not doubt I am to meet you again,
I am to see to it that I do not lose you.

Paint

Thanks in large part to the calming voice and poofy hair of Mr. Bob Ross, to this day I find globs of paint and palates incredibly comforting. So photographing the blue-hued corner of Suzy Barnard‘s studio for my Dogpatchwork project was a pretty great way to spend the morning.

Chloé Fleury at La Boutique

My very talented friend Chloé is having a show of her work at La Boutique and I was thrilled to make a little teaser video to spread the word. She creates wonderful, whimsical, colorful pieces with paper that are so worth seeing in person. Get yourself there on the 27th!

Triple Aught Design Shoot

I’ve never been so thrilled to wake up long before dawn than I was for this recent shoot with Triple Aught Design. Providing well-designed, highly functional performance wear and gear, their pieces make you want to use them all the time in remote, crazy places.

(Pictures snapped of me taking pictures, which I then snagged)

Spring brunch

Have you ever seen such a perfect brunch spread? Tulips, mimosas, yummy food, the Weekender and new friends made for a wonderful Sunday morning.
