Bright lights, big city

On Tuesday, I experienced one of my favorite and one of my least favorite things in the world: a road trip out of New York and waking up early.

This is a shot of the return to New York from New Jersey. I’ve taken this route countless times, but it never gets old. So much commotion, so many lights, so much ahead.

And this is the payoff for waking up before dawn. Art piece/social subterfuge/political statement all in one. (In case this makes little sense to you, the “Ratner” to be fucked is Bruce Ratner, real estate developer and owner of the NJ Nets, who has a big hand in building the Atlantic Yards project nearby, which many people are (clearly) uphappy about.)

Don’t think

“Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.”
