Being a tourist
In December, my favorite out-of-towner came for a visit and led me to a New York activity so out of my norm that it hadn’t even made my city bucket list: a helicopter ride around Manhattan.
Yes we were surrounded by tourists and yes a lot of money was thrown down for a short ride, but it was beyond worth it to have such a view of this crazy landscape. And if you happen to catch it around sunset, as we spontaneously did, then all the better.
Another snow falls in Brooklyn
The general consensus in New York is that people are sick of the snow. Freezing rain, slushy ponds at the corners of sidewalks, snow piled up everywhere, blah blah blah. I love it. If we have to endure frigid temperatures and gray skies, I appreciate an aesthetic highlight.
